How did you land your first book ghostwriting project?
My first “writing” project was actually my husband’s story. He had experienced a medical challenge and once we came through, we literally sat at the kitchen table and he talked while I documented. It was an amazing experience that became the catalyst for my career change and subsequent ghostwriting journey. I loved the process of sharing someone else’s story.
What is your favorite type of project or client?
I really enjoy working with storytellers from an older generation. They are so eager to share and have experienced the world in a way that many people cannot and do not appreciate. I always feel honored to be able to be the one to document some of the many adventures, experiences, and challenges of “ordinary” people.
What’s your favorite question to ask clients during an interview?
My favorite question is: What motivated you to WANT to share your story with ME?
What are the best parts of this career?
I GET to do this job and am so proud of it. The best part is getting to meet people from around the world, from all walks of life, with interesting stories to share. I know that I am so much wealthier in terms of knowledge and experience due to the many people who have shared their experience and knowledge with me.
What’s one thing clients might be surprised to know about you?
I LOVE all things Latino/Spanish….from food to culture, language, music, and of course people, and I am currently learning Salsa!
