Tim Vandehey
Bio
I’m a New York Times bestselling ghostwriter and co-author who’s written more than 70 nonfiction books, won multiple Axiom, Independent Press and Goody Awards, and published with such major houses as HarperCollins, Penguin Random House, Simon & Schuster, Hachette, Hay House, Wiley & Sons, and MIT Press. I specialize in genres such as memoir, business, prescriptive self-help, and cultural commentary, but I’ve also ghosted successful books on subjects as diverse and challenging as cybercrime, the Internet of Things, ultra-endurance racing, brain trauma in professional football, and the Tulsa Race Massacre of 1921.
My notable recent titles include I Identify As Blind: A Brazen Celebration of Disability Identity, Culture and Power by Lachi (Penguin Random House, January 2026); Redeem a Nation: One Man’s Fight to Make America Truly Great, by Damario Solomon-Simmons (Penguin Random House, February 2026; Saturday Night, Sunday Morning: Staying True to Myself from the Pews to the Stage by P.J. Morton (Hachette, November 2024); and Undefeated: Changing the Rules and Winning on My Own Terms by Shaunie Henderson (Simon & Schuster, May 2024). In my long career, I’ve ghosted for Hollywood producers, Pentecostal bishops, Emmy-winning actors, Silicon Valley entrepreneurs, NFL veterans, reality stars, naturalists, Ironman champions, computer geniuses, and famous musicians, to name a few.
When I’m not writing, I’m usually singing jazz, blues, Renaissance or classical music in multiple ensembles. If I’m not at rehearsal (and I’m always at rehearsal), I’m probably building my tiki-themed home office or working on mixing the perfect mai tai. I live in Kansas City, MO with my wife, two daughters, and far too many beagles.
