Bio
I’ve been a ghostwriter for many years and have proudly written many successful books for many successful people.
I grew up writing poems and stories simply because I liked stringing words together. I was self-taught in the beginning, mainly mimicking my favorite authors. As I improved, I discovered that this mimicking developed into an ability to write in voices other than my own.
But I began to feel like there were times when I needed a different title. I didn’t always feel like a ghost and wanted to find a word that fit me better. I knew there must be other writers like me. I was often part of the client’s entire strategy, doing something similar but not quite the same as ghosting.
I like to think of voicewriting as a “spinoff” of ghostwriting. When you work with me, your voice is heard at its highest level. A voicewriter amplifies your voice; she doesn’t take it over. She brings depth and color to your story and message. She develops it all with you, researching facts, quotes, and theories that lend authority and authenticity to your words.
She gets your voice in her head and knows when it sounds right or wrong. A voicewriter finds a rhythm with you. Together, you create that thick, lush harmony that one voice can’t make alone. This creates powerful dialog and crystallizes your voice.
People have asked me if a voicewriter is the same as a co-writer.
Not a chance, monkeypants.
The difference between a voicewriter and a co-writer is that while I collaborate with others and I am credited for my input, the vision and voice are still all theirs. A voicewriter is invested in their vision and will contribute ideas to help them bring it to fruition. A co-author is invested in both their client’s vision and their own. They also likely have their own motives for the completed written work, which will belong to them both.
It used to be that people had the choice of creating written work for themselves or hiring a ghostwriter to do it for them. A voicewriter is a third option. It’s about collaboration. Today, there is no shame in openly saying that you have worked with a writer whose work you admire and respect. This honors the voicewriter, helps leaders extend their message and influence, and allows everyone involved to be ethical and transparent. It shows that the leader understands they can’t do everything themselves and knows how to work with people as a team contributor.
I believe that wise people leverage the strengths of others.
So, I am a voicewriter. I assist people in writing and expanding narratives, stories, and other content that brings their message to the world. People are not meant to do it all alone! They have their own specialties. Together, we present ideas to catch fire, enlighten, and create transformation.
Everyone wins.
